A neutral arbiter settles it.

Only under rules that allow a fault claim. The arbiter decides one narrow question: was a fault definition you both chose met? Nothing about who was the better partner.

Named reviewer · Fast AI review

  1. 01

    Both of you add evidence

Messages, photos, documents and a guided statement each. You both see what the other adds.

  2. 02

    AI organizes the facts

It sorts the file, pulls out dates and drafts a summary, clearly marked as a draft. Either of you can correct it.

  3. 03

A person makes the final call

A named reviewer reads the whole file, applies the definitions you chose, and signs a written decision.

There are two ways to decide, and you pick one at signup.

Either way, a named person reads the whole file and signs the decision.

  1. Day 0

    File a claim

Pick the fault definitions at issue and answer four guided prompts. Add evidence now or later.

  2. By day 5

    Response

Your partner is told right away and can deny with their own statement, admit, or offer to settle.

  3. By day 10

    Evidence

Both of you add items, each with a category and one line on what it shows. Reminders on day 3 and day 1.

  4. 3 days after

    Reply

Answer what the other added, item by item or overall. No new topics.

  5. 1 day after

    File closes

The case file is built and shared with both of you. Flag any error in the summary within 24 hours.

  6. 48 hours, if needed

    Questions

The reviewer may send each of you up to five written questions. Both see both sets of answers.

  7. 3 or 10 business days

    Decision

Both of you get the signed decision at the same moment. You have 7 days to ask for a correction of a clerical or math error.

  8. 3 to 5 business days

    Money moves

Knotpot applies your rule to the decision and the money is released to your linked accounts.

At any point before the decision

Settle
Agree an outcome together at any stage, from everyone gets theirs back to a forfeit at a percent you pick. Both sign.
Withdraw
The partner who filed can withdraw. The pot opens again.
Cross-claim
The other partner can file their own claim in the same case.
More time
Each of you can ask once for 5 more days for evidence.

Built to be fair

  • Same windows, same tools and the same file for both of you.
  • Standard: more likely than not. The burden is on the partner claiming.
  • Sensitive items go to the reviewer first, who releases them, describes them, or leaves them out.
  • Evidence is viewed in Knotpot only, watermarked, with no downloads.
  • While a claim is open, contributions pause and the pot can't be ended. The safety exit still works.
  • Missing a window never loses your case; the file just closes without that input.

Dispute fee: to be confirmed. Fees are never taken from the pot.
